Why not watch something different and slightly weird this year?

We all know about Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, the Grinch and the Muppets and remember to enjoy them this time of year, but how often do we watch something weird or obscure for Christmas?
Try these on for size if you’re feeling adventurous or nostalgic. Or bored.
A Cosmic Christmas is a rare Canadian Christmas special from 1977, made at Nelvana Studios one year before they did the Boba Fett cartoon segment for the STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL. Trippy animation and strange voice-overs make for a really weird tale of a boy and his pet Canada goose who try to explain Christmas to three ugly alien beings.
A rare 1982 Christmas special from Hanna Barbera Kiddie-Hell, where Santa’s sleigh crash-lands in Pac-Land. Pac-Man and his dog Chomp-Chomp save Christmas by rescuing Santa’s sack of toys from the Ghost Monsters and feeding power pellets to the reindeer, who for some reason make sounds like horses.
If you really want to suffer through the whole thing, you can watch it here ».
“What’s happening to me? I have to save the children!”
Nothing brings the Christmas spirit home like robot battles and Hordak kidnapping Earthling children. Good Lord.
1974’s ‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is actually a good one, with delightful songs and appealing production design gracing this rare & strange Rankin/Bass classic about a petty Santa Claus who ignores an entire town and sinks them into depression because an atheist mouse writes him a letter saying he doesn’t exist.
